Homework

Homework is a reinforcement or extension of class instruction. It is very important that all homework is completed as assigned. Homework is given nightly from Monday to Thursday. With the exception of studying for a test or a working on a long term project it is unusual that I will give homework on a weekend.

Homework, long term assignments and upcoming tests/quizzes will be written daily in a homework assignment pad. In addition, it can be found here.

How much homework will be assigned?
A general rule is homework should be equal to the grade times ten. So fifth graders should get an average of 50 minutes of homework nightly. This does not include reading which should be approximately 20 minutes a night. That said, all students work at their own pace. If you find that homework is taking longer than one hour per night, please contact me.

What happens if an assignment is not completed?
If an assignment is not turned in when it is due, a Missed Homework Form will be completed and sent home to be signed. The form is to be returned with the completed assignment the following school day.

All missed assignments will be given a grade of zero. This grade will be averaged into the homework grade for the current marking period. The grade of zero remains even when the assignment is turned in with the Missed Homework Form.
