Writing is an important but difficult skill to learn. Throughout the year we will learn about the writing process and the 6 traits of writing. We will learn about and write several different types of writing pieces. Learning how to develop a writing piece is our focus and therefore I do not correct (edit) each writing piece. Instead, I meet and conference with students to discuss ways to improve their writing which will allow them to make the corrections needed. This approach provides practice for activities and assignments where students are responsible for completing a writing piece without teacher guidance or direction, such as on the NJASK test.
